Artist's Comments

This is an illustration for ~corianderpie's wonderful fanfic Caramel, which is published on The Petulant Poetess. It's instructions for making a potion. The original handwriting is Snape's; the additional notes (in blue ink) are Hermione's.

I used PS brushes by ~tydockter, ~obstgemuese, ~Da-Gavster, and ~kalijean.

The sketch of Snape is by ~RosesAndThorns. It's the second illustration I've used it in--if she'd draw some more of these, my illustrations would be more varied :-)

The feather is by *mirrorimagestock.

The paper is from a scan by ~tinder which was blanked out by ~giyvin. It's actually a single book page that I turned on its side, edited out the spine, and put stitching down the middle to make it look like an open book.

This is great! It looks like my Oma's handwritten cookbook/journal from the mid-part of the 1800's. Thi is just too good! Thanks for the walk down memory lane... (Now if I could just find out who inherited Oma's cookbook from my Grammam now that I have remembered it!) [link] [link] [link]

Thank you! That was exactly the effect I was going for--well, not your Oma personally, you understand, but the 19th-century hand-written recipe aspect.
